Thanks for the reply CPL, thats a nice setup you got going!!! I went from an AMD 8320E to an i5 4690K and there is a big difference in FPS I found. Have you AA turned off and settings at medium/high?

Yes, I have my settings for performance rather than looking "pretty". But that's a personal preference I guess as I would do the same even running on 1 monitor.

What you say makes sense and now I dont know what to do :( Do the screen bezels distract/annoy you much or is it something you dont even notice after a while?

I have a triple screen setup(portrait) and I do get decent frames in Arma at 3240x1920. That being said I have 2x R9 280x SSC and an i7 4790k. It does struggle depending on server performance but its hard to plan for that(Averages Around 30 during big ops may drop to 20 but most of the time its around 40-55 this was also on Nziwago so take it with a grain of salt). I would not recommend doing a triple screen setup with just the one card. The resolution alone will kill your vram. I would double up on the 970s. What other games do you play?

PS To touch on what Cpt Whitby said I can understand the bezel bothering some people. I debezzled my screens (took all the plastic off and overlapped the middle screen slightly in front of the side two. Its about a 3mm bezel between screens) At the end of the day I don't even notice it to be honest. Its like wearing glasses, how often do you notice the frames themselves?

Thanks for the reply LT, the fact that I will need to SLI to run 3 monitors is making it a non runner for me. Arma is the only game I play online, after that its GTA5, BF4 but I dont get to play these too much due to work & family commitments, Arma is the only one I make a real effort for. Im looking at a 29" monitor and I'm thinking that will do the trick for me.

Then do just that find a nice 27-32'' screen with good resolution and response time. Maybe a 1440p That'd work great with Arma and your set up.
