« on: June 08, 2021, 04:53:15 PM »
Joining the 506th Infantry Regiment Realism Unit
Alpha Company, 1st Battalion, 506th Infantry Regiment
1st Platoon, Charlie Company, 326th Combat Engineers
Delta Company, 5th Battalion, 101st Aviation Regiment
Alpha Flight, 19th Air Support Operations Squadron
74th Fighter Squadron, 23d Wing

1. Joining the 506th Infantry Regiment Realism Unit

1.1 New Join Policy
You can find the New Join Policy here. Read this before submitting an application.

1.2 Minimum Age Policy
The 506th IR RU has a minimum age of 18. There are no exceptions to this policy.

1.3 Arma 3 Apex DLC
You must own a copy of the Arma 3 Apex DLC.

1.4 Teamspeak
You must have a microphone that works with Teamspeak 3.

1.5 Find your PID
In order to submit an application, you must provide your Arma 3 Player ID (PID). You can do so by logging into your Steam profile and copying the URL. Go to this website, paste the URL and hit enter. Your Arma 3 PID is the 17 digit long "steamID64".

2. Definition of Roleplay and Realism

This means you are playing a role, which is part of the realism experience. You will role-play in game as a PVT, SPC, SGT, Infantryman, Medic, etc. You are expected to act as if you are that soldier in that environment when you are playing and in all other official settings.

This means that you need to be ready to immerse yourself in your role while in-game and in official settings. From mission start to mission end you need to pretend that you are in a combat environment - no talking about your "fps" or "lag" or "teamspeak issues" unless there is a critical emergency that needs to be addressed and there isn't a way that you can get the point across without breaking immersion. Don't talk about what you're watching on TV while you're playing or what other people around you are doing in real life. These are all things that break the immersion that is desired by others, and they won't be tolerated.

If you cannot control your voice activation, you will be required to switch to a push-to-talk profile. If you have loud TV or music in the background, or you eat or drink, or there are people or loud children that are constantly making noise, or you use speakers that feed-back through your microphone, or any other sort of voice activation issues, you will be required to switch to PTT. This can be one of the single most immersion-breaking experiences, and it will not be tolerated.

It is our hope in the 506th that we provide the ArmA realism experience that you are looking for. See you on the battlefield!

3. Naming Policy

You are not required to use your real name, and therefore many members of the unit use fake names. If you do choose to use a fake name, the following policies apply:

  • It may not be a celebrity/silly name
  • It must be a realistic name

All names are subject to recruitment approval.

4. Dual Enlistment Policy

The 506th IR RU has a strict ban on dual enlistment. This means that you may not be a member of any other modern Arma 3 Milsim unit, from the time you apply to the 506th IR RU until your discharge/retirement. If you are a member of another modern Arma 3 Milsim unit, you must discharge from the other unit prior to your application to the 506th IR RU. Failure to do so will result in denial of your application. Futuristic (Star Wars/Halo), WWI/II, or Vietnam-era units are examples of units to which this policy does not apply.

5. Training Requirements

The 506th IR RU has a training pipeline and ongoing training requirements. You must complete all required training before you become a fully-fledged member of the unit. Exception are not given, regardless of prior real-world military or milsim gaming experience. The following sections outline the training required, and an approximate amount of time it takes to complete the training pipeline.

5.1 Application
The initial application you submit (via the form linked at the bottom of this post) should take only a few minutes to fill out. If you have read through and follow the guidance in this document, your application should be accepted within 24 hours. This process may take longer if a recruiter needs to make additional checks to complete your application. A response to your application post will be made letting you know your application has been accepted or if further information is required.

5.2 Recruit Training
Upon your application being accepted, you will receive the rank of RCT (Recruit). Holding that rank will clear you to move forward within the training pipeline. Instructions for how to proceed in the training pipeline will be provided in private message sent on these forums, which will be your "Welcome Aboard Message". The initial section of the training pipeline is a recruit training class that operates on a fixed schedule, and consists of one session lasting a maximum of three hours, although almost always takes less than two hours.

5.3 OSUT
Following the completion of Recruit Training, you will be instructed to sign up for OSUT (One Station Unit Training). This class consists of 4 days of training, with each day lasting a maximum of 3 hours. Classes are conducted on a fixed schedule on a weekly basis. More details on signing up for OSUT, and class days/times, will be provided by your recruit instructor following the completion of recruit training. You must complete all 4 days of OSUT in order, as each day builds upon the last.

5.4 Additional Trainings
Specific billets require additional training. Details can be found in the New Join Policy at sections 1-6 and 1-7.

5.5 Ongoing Trainings
Once finished OSUT and billeted, active duty personnel are expected to attend one weekly training with their squad, in addition to a monthly platoon training to fulfill attendance requirements. Those who are unable to consistently meet these may opt to join the reserves platoon. Asset roles (such as the 153A or 11F3B MOS) may have different requirements as part of their ongoing trainings.

6. Saturday and Sunday Platoons

The 506th IR RU currently operates with 3 Task Forces: Alpha, Bravo, and Charlie. Task Force Alpha and Bravo have their operations on Sundays, while Task Force Charlie has operations on Saturday. All operations begin at 2000 hours (8:00 PM) EST. When you complete OSUT you will choose your desired MOS.
