AMERICAN FORCES COUNTER TERRORISTS IN SKOZISTAN

American forces of the 101st Airborne Division’s 506th Infantry Regiment entered the Skozistani city of KalaeNoowi in a concerted effort to deprive Al Qaeda and Taliban forces of a stronghold from which they have launched attacks against NATO forces stationed at the large airbase there. The American patrols conducted against terrorists in the city saw terrorists engage the American infantry and vehicles in fierce but sporadic urban combat, with several suicide bombers and suicide vehicles being sent against American forces. This has been dubbed "The Battle of Kalaenoowi."

No American soldiers were reported killed, and less than ten wounded. Overall casualties were reportedly light as a large roadblock in the center of town was set up, and terrorists were sandwiched between the roadblock and two American patrols moving in from the Northeast and Southwest. The entire city was occupied by American forces in a concerted show of force. This was all done, reportedly, without the assistance of local police or military, who are supposedly either intimidated by or in the pockets of Al Qaeda and the Taliban. No civilian casualties have been reported but American sources claim that more then fifty enemy combatants were killed and several weapons caches were located and disposed of.

Al Qaeda put out a press release that claimed that they had suffered casualties and called for their followers to make reprisal attacks against all NATO forces in the region. According to anonymous reports in the NATO base’s press section morning prayers in the city were laced with announcements listing the names of the dead and called for family members of the dead fighters to retaliate against the NATO presence in the city and general anti-American language was reported to have been used.

Fortunately the mood of the city is reported to have been optimistic due to the marked restraint shown by the NATO forces that resulted in no noted civilian casualties or damage to the city. Numerous religious leaders are arriving in the city and with American and other NATO forces in firm control there is a feeling of security in the city and local sources state that the city is starting to return to a semblance of normalcy before the terror networks had arrived and took control.

However combat operations continue outside the city, and American forces are supposedly meeting stiff resistance resulting in around ten Americans killed and multiple aircraft lost in only a few weeks of fighting west of the city of KalaeNoowi. Al Qaeda claimed that fifty Americans were killed and that they had driven them back to the city in a complete rout. Fox News cannot verify the validity of these claims, and the Department of Defense has denied their accuracy.

MORTAR BARRAGE HITS GOVERNMENT BUILDINGS IN KALAENOOWI

At least two dozen loud explosions rocked the center of Kalaenoowi early Saturday (local time) as the Kalaenoowi Mayor and Provincial Governor delivered a message of peace after the devastating military operations conducted throughout the city by US forces. The mortar attack destroyed a Skozistan governmental building and approximately five rounds landed in residential neighborhoods nearby. One home was destroyed, killing two occupants. The government building collapsed from a direct hit, leaving one dead and 3 in critical condition.

The attack did not target NATO forces stationed at Washington Airbase but helicopter gunships from the base launched in reaction and patrolled the surrounding areas - they were unable to locate the firing positions. It is unclear who carried out the attack but initial reports from civilians sympathetic to the terrorist causes suggest that the Taliban was responsible. At this time this cannot be verified.

The boom of the mortars was heard in the live broadcast of the Mayors speech with the screams of the crowd overheard during the chaos. The Mayor attempted to finish his speech but was rushed into a secure location along with the Provincial Governor. They have rescheduled the speech for next week.

- Kalaenoowi police raided a local mechanic shop capturing four Sudanese men and two Afghani’s in the process of building one vehicle-borne improvised explosive device (VBIED) and preparing a second vehicle.  One Afghan was teaching the Sudanese men how to strip the vehicles while the other Afghan detainee is responsible for the wiring and electrical components.  A large amount of bomb making material was recovered.

- Two previously unknown assailants ran into the south police precinct of Kalaenoowi with knives causing stabbing and slashing wounds to three employees before officers shot and killed both men. No group has claimed responsibility.

The suspect was arrested without incident and found with Taliban propaganda along with cell phone activity that is being analyzed by NATO forces.

- A woman from east Kalaenoowi reported her neighbor’s house was on fire and when firefighters arrived approximately five minutes later, witnessed an explosion that blew out several windows and partially destroyed one side of the residence.  Police captured two occupants running out of the home and later arrested them when investigators discovered two homemade bombs in the garage.  Apparently, the third bomb they were building prematurely exploded with component found onsite indicating cell-phone activation.  Additional bomb making materials and electrical components were found throughout the house and in a car.

- Kalaenoowi police have issued a statement to the local news channel stating that they've redoubled their efforts and their recruiting following the US military's operations in the city. They said the operations had caused a "significant amount of destruction" and it will "take a lot of time and effort" to clean up.
