New computer issue
« on: March 05, 2017, 01:07:25 PM »
So, i just got to build my new gaming rig, however it will only boot with one stick of ram installed. i have tried both sticks independently in multiple sockets and they all work fine. I got an Asus strix z270G and g-skill tridentZ 2x8gb ddr4 3200. I tried going into the bios and enabling XMP but that didnt help. Im pretty sure its some type of bios setting but im not experienced enough to know whats what. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Did you install them into slots 2 and 4? Most MOBOs want RAM pairs in slots 2&4 and 1&3 respectively. Are they the same types of RAM or two different (speed and latency and brand)?

The ram is in the list as compatible for the board, so there should be no issue there.

You might want to contact Asus. They have pretty good tech support.

With one stick does it recognize the frequency for the RAM as 3200MHz (it might be shown as 1600 since it's Double Data Rate)? 3200 freq is 'supported' as an O.C. option.
