BREAKING NEWS

Yet more reports are coming in from the former NATO member country Erzikistan, and what they seem to indicate is staggering in it's nature. The underpaid, and overworked Erzikistani military are now standing down in light of the bold moves being made by the recently established 'Erzikistan Republic' with their most latest action being reported on in yesterday's issue. This comes as a great shock to all of us here at International Times, as this is the final tolling of the bell for the stability of Erzikistan.

With no standing military, cuts to vital emergency services such as the national police force, many of the country's governmental officials held hostage, and a failing economy there is little hope left in Erzikistan regaining it's stability without some outside assistance. There are still some levels of order held in the capitol, where reporters from many major networks from across the globe are now congregating. There is no current evidence to support the assumption that this so called republic would go so far as taking reporters from neutral countries as well as members of their own lawful government hostage, however it seems that many correspondence, including our own, are not willing to take that risk.

Yesterday we reported that after Erzikistan's governmental officials had been abducted, with a total of thirty unpaid military servicemen being killed in that act, the remaining members of the lawful Erzikistani government called out for aid from the United States of America; It is very clear now that without that help Erzikistan will descend into anarchy and a potentially brutal civil war if another group declares themselves as well as the Erzikistan Republic, and may even destabilize the entire region, and with current pressures being high as it is this is an entirely plausible outcome. We here at the International Times are putting plans in place to ensure the safety of our reporters, and any others who require that safety while the situation develops, so that we can get you the news you deserve the read even in the most troubling of times.
