i figured it out. thanks guys

Could you share what the solution was, to help any others that may encounter this issue in the future?

i set tab as my long range communication button. so that when i hit alt tab it opened my long range comms and kept it stuck there

basically i was stupid

Ha! told you it was a key binding issue...it was just not in TS but in game  ;)
