The Su-25 was shot down over Northeastern Chernarus early this morning while performing a standard reconnaissance flight. We regret to inform the family of Korolyov Andreevich that their son was killed in the crash. We believe that the aircraft was shot down by a shoulder launched rocket from the RPLA. Unfortunately, we cannot know more as the crash sight is within RPLA controlled territory.

It appears that the plane had crashed into the forest next to a farm. Images have surfaced on new sites and social media of the down aircraft, which seen by the pictures is a total loss.

The loss of this Su-25, commonly known as a “Frogfoot”, was the last known aircraft in control of the Chernarus Air Command (CAC). The CAC lost the majority of their air assets last month when the RPLA were withdrawing from Podagorsk, and attacked their primary base in Northeastern Chernarus. The majority of their airpower came in the form of several Mi-8 transports and a few Mi-24 attack helicopters. They mainly flew these aircraft due to the size and remoteness of the country. The CAC did posses a few fixed wing aircraft, though after a 6  hour long battle for them, the CAC had to withdraw into the mountain sides after destroying most of their own aircraft. It is believed that several helicopters were left in a repairable condition and captured. These aircraft have not been seen since the Chernarus Armed Forces have pulled back from the airfield.

Few aircraft elsewhere in the country during the attack had survived, and those that did relocated to the international airport in Northwest Chernarus. Over the course of the last month, these aircraft have slowly been picked off, until today when the last aircraft went down. All fixed wing aircraft has been accounted for and confirmed destroyed.

This is a significant blow to the democratically elected Chernarus government as they now have lost their aerial advantage. Since the start of the conflict, the RPLA has fielded no airpower, which is most likely due to not having any trained pilots, though several helicopters and crew are still unaccounted for in the region.

The Chernarus government primarily used fixed wing aircraft to engage enemy armour, and  reconnaissance flights. The CAC has 59 confirmed armoured kills over the past month from its air assets alone. With the loss of the CAC, it is unknown how it will affect future ground operations against the RPLA.
