Theater/Strategic-level News & Intelligence Updates, Activity, and Analysis
The 506th's show of force patrols, combined with IMINT and HUMINT, have successfully drawn out insurgents in hiding and revealed multiple insurgent strong points across the Desert sector. However, HUMINT has also strongly advised that the local civilian populace is now much more reluctant to interact with BLUFOR directly due to various unfortunate incidents during Phase 01 of this deployment, which have been picked up by news outlets and further propagandized by the various militant factions and local dissidents.
Therefore, command stresses the critical importance of trigger discipline and environmental awareness—winning the trust of the civilian population is essential to exposing and dismantling the insurgent networks embedded within the region. Movement along main supply routes (MSRs) and in civilian-dense areas be limited to essential tasks only. Civilian engagement should be handled by designated task force commanders or special operations elements when absolutely necessary.
The US Marine Corps has also been deployed to the region in limited numbers to assist with security operations.

Most, if not all after-action reports now suggest that The Swords of Tarhid are in full cooperation with the Al-Fulisan Brigade, with IEDs and Suicide Vests being seen in use by OPFOR across the entire theatre of operations. Stalker 1's efforts at intelligence gathering via attaching trackers to OPFOR motorized assets and raiding a local warlord's compound during AUX OP Delta ~48 hours ago has given us a list of safe houses linked to General Asad Farid Abadi, who was the military leader of the Sons of Al-Karbouli. His current affiliation to one or more splinter factions is unclear, and all troops are strongly encouraged to assist STalker in capturing enemy combatants or local collaborators, which may yield high-value intelligence critical to identifying more of the insurgent leadership and disrupting their networks.
Special Info/Patrol Objective-specific Intelligence
OP ARMADILLO is an old IAF outpost, meant to provide security for Airbase Chuparosa during its construction in the Cold War era. While it would be trivial to level the entire compound into the ground with a GBU, the resultant smoke cloud would be visible for miles and its effects less than ideal for the stated deployment goals. Command would prefer ground troops conduct an assault, and attempt what was just discussed: gather intelligence and capturing enemy combatants or local collaborators.
