Currently serving officer with the National Guard.  Will have a total of 30 years of service in July; eleven of which was active and fourteen of which was enlisted.  I have been Signal, Military Intelligence and Armor.  I would still be Armor if my state didnt give away my horse.

Rant trigger: Every time I watched NCIS I wanted to punch the TV. Not at all what it is like, but the reality was sometimes more fun and sometimes much worse.  Doing an interrogation for 14 hours and eventually having the scum bag act out how he sexually abused two toddlers and an infant while trying not to kill him is disastrous on your soul. Actually all the child crime was heart breaking, the amount of "accidental" child deaths, child molestation and CP that come from the Army was mind blowing.  The crime lab was a big one that always made me mad because I wish it was like on t.v. When we sent evidence off to the lab (BECAUSE NO ONE HAS AN ON SITE LAB!) we wouldn't see results for months.  Each agent had about 7-15 active cases they were working at a time and you rotated duty week per team and we only had two teams for GC so we were picking up new cases every other week. Shit was brutal, almost cost my marraige. I think one of the worst parts about that show is every time I saw my dad he would smack me on the back of the head while saying "DiNozzo!". Not funny after the first 50 times. All in all some great stories and I wish I was still in LE, but it was a rough job.

You are telling me that NCIS doesn't take point on direct action counter terrorism raids?

As much as I love to crush your hopes and dreams, I regret to inform you that all they do is investigate crimes and push a metric F*** ton of paperwork.
Title: Re: military vets.
Post by: Deschain on January 22, 2016, 10:56:02 PM
Don't even get me started on the paperwork. In Army CID we had more stringent reporting requirements than the FBI. And our crime scene notes were impeccable. In ASAC (CID school) to pass the crime scene portion of training you get a a normal size barracks with a body, weapon, bed, dresser, small nightstand, airplane bottle of JD, and some form of drug. You have 5 hours to cover all the requirements of analyzing a crime scene. You measure everything and I mean everything in the room, and then use 3 points to measure every item in relation to every other item in the room. Then you use an 8 point descriptive template to describe everything. All in all it took me 17 pages of legal size note pad to describe that tiny scene. Imagine what it looks like when you are investigating the SF dude that stole millions of dollars worth of supplies/weapons/ammo, and had an APC in his garage. FUN FUCKIN TIMES! :'(

Hello everyone,

I hate that I am finding out about ArmA 3 and this group so late in the game (no pun intended).

I am career military starting with 19D Army Scout in early 90's active duty and then as a 96B/35F Intel Analyst for the rest of my career.  I am currently a G2 NCOIC working intel and emergency management.  Only two deployments to OIF (which was enough) and without giving specifics, I have been doing this army life for a lifetime.

I look forward to growing with this community as I expand my gaming into Arma 3.  I have grown up with computer war gaming with most of the last few years in multi player CoD matches.  That game is limited in scope due to the players so when I found you guys... there was dancing in the streets!

FL ARNG 13B, '05-'11 ('11-'13 IRR)

Got sick and tired of the BS in the battalion as a whole (NCO top heavy af, 11A btry cmdr who was paranoid at all the enlisted staging a coup or something...3 ND's under his watch lost him his rank and command but he threw my 1st sergeant under the bus too) so I just stayed in until my time was up and that was it. Everyone said I should stay and some tried to get me to go OCS or SFQC. In hindsight, I probably should have.

<--- FNG / Bootcamp here

Aviation Ordnancemen  First Class Petty Officer - AO1 (AW/SW), 1997-2005 (USS Carl Vinson - Ship's Company / CNATTU- Whidbey Island NEC 6801 Instructor).

I was selected for E-7 right before I was MEDSEP'ed out. I broke my back pushing a GBU-32(V)B by myself and jacked up 4 disks during OEF in 2001.  Spent 4 years trying to fix it, but they sent me a go-home package and the ever so wonderful DD-214 instead.

31B with the US Army. I'm assigned to a Combat Support Brigade, we do nothing. I'm getting that 368 and reclassing 11B to an Infantry BN after a mission to Japan in June. 31B is a good time but I just don't like the work anymore. They might fold our flag and retire the unit, which will be shitty.

My unit is POG as fuck too so that sucks too lol.

I'm also a vet. My MOS at the time was 38AO5. I'm told it's been changed now. To 38B I think. My Co. and I were assigned to an SFG. It was a blast and I learned a lot from them. I am now out. I miss it very much and I hope to find the brotherhood here with you all that I and all of you other guys who were in, had. Always loyal...

Good evening gents,

New recruit here. I served 13 years in the Army National Guard where I did a little bit of everything. Started life as a 42A (Admin Puke) in an Artillery Battalion, Deployed once to Iraq and blew out my knees. Came home, retrained as 25B (Information Technology). After that, I ran mobile communications for Natural disasters (think Katrina, Ike, Sandy, etc) in a C130 Deployable Trailer (Custom Designed and Built for our state), and Auditor for DCMA in a Joint Taskforce, and finally an Instructor for a Regional Training Center (MP, Equipment Operator, OCS, NCOES).

Army pushed me out for my knees so now I am a Data Center Architect for the Navy. I will keep serving the War Fighters until I can work no more.

1st Battalion PPCLI, marksman on rifle team.. until 1992. Miss my team and spent many months wishing and dreaming I was deployed with them. My children and wife kept me sane while I chomped the bit wanting to stand beside my brothers. Hardest decision Ive ever made. All I had to do was look at my kids in the morning to keep me home. Leaving the military was ...hard, everthing changes and you say goodbye to a family.
