I use Nvidia Shadowplay as it has a very minimal performance hit when uploading to a seperate hard drive. It doesn't have built-in voice detection or push-to-talk, so you'd have to download third party software to make up for it.

It definitely is compatible with any mic input. I've been using this for over a year and don't use another program for mic recording. At any rate, I definitely agree. It is a clean, well rounded recording software; I haven't tried anything else since I first built my PC. Extremely satisfied.

I used shadowplay last night - set it to always on mic capture and it'll work.

The only issue I've had with Shadowplay is that it records at a variable frame rate.  This causes audio to be slightly out of sync with the video when editing.  There's a free program out there called Handbrake which takes the Shadowplay variable frame rate and converts it to a constant frame rate.  I run videos through that before editing so there's no sound sync issues.  Depending on the length of the video it takes my machine between 15 and 20 minutes to convert a 90 minute video.  But other than that, like the others have said, Shadowplay causes no appreciable performance hit to my pc and is super easy to use.

Brilliant, thanks for that.  I've been dealing with the same issue and was not sure how to fix it.  I'll give Handbreak a try!

I stream and record with Open Broadcaster Software (OBS).  The only issues I've had with it is that sometimes the feed will die which breaks the recording on Twitch but I haven't been able to nail down what causes it.  It hasn't happened lately.

I wanted to try OBS but I know Drum uses it and his videos have some weird pixellization every so often that I heard is attributed to OBS. Unless it's on YouTube's end or something.

I don't know if that's OBS or Twitch dropping frames.  I should try Shadowplay I just haven't gotten around to setting it up.

The pixelation is caused by ArmA foliage. You can increase the quality in OBS and get rid of most of it, but at that point no one can watch the stream. This is different obviously when recording. If I only recorded instead of streaming, the quality would be set much higher.
