your new youtube fans are going to be happy

You took a missile hit, I'm almost disappointed

I still find myself kinda disappointed the heavy armor didn't show. All that training on the RHS GAU-8 to take out a T-90 and I saved almost all my AGM's for the tanks that never came.

Good morning 506th:
As some of you are aware (I don't exactly hide my heritage since the flag is on my jet and has been for quite some time now), my family in Puerto Rico has been significantly impacted by the destruction wrought by Hurricane Maria; the past two weeks have brought the scale of the storm's effect into clear focus. Lives have been immeasurably altered. Livelihoods brought to a screeching halt. Homes flattened despite being built from concrete and rebar. Roads have been rendered impassible to say nothing for the loss of power and availability of basic living necessities. The situation is improving slowly, but the monumental undertaking awaiting my aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents, and friends is unlike anything many of us will ever have to endure.
My grandmother's neighbors faired quite badly.

My dad stands in the wreckage of what's left of my uncle's car paint shop.

My parents have recently returned from the stricken island having brought with them my aunt and grandfather to allow them some respite from the devastation. My contribution thus far has been clearing out every Home Depot, Lowes, etc, of every generator and other provisions I can get my hands on. As you can probably imagine, this has proven somewhat difficult as so many items needed in the aftermath of a hurricane have already been sent to Florida and Texas thus supply is low. This hasn't stopped us and as I type this, my mother is at the freight check-in area of Delta where we're sending the next shipment to Puerto Rico. The outreach from so many individuals is being felt as Puerto Ricans stateside are doing everything in their power to provide relief.

I write all this to make you all aware of my next effort to do something to help. My aunt has made me aware of the Centro de Bendición (http://www.centrodebendicionpr.com/) who are tirelessly volunteering everything they have to help those in need. Their van they use(d) to move children and the elderly to and from the center for the various programs they conduct, which would have been really useful in the wake of the storm, is a total loss. I've committed to raising some sort of monetary contribution to help them get a replacement and continue the work they do to support the community.
Those who have watched my streams and videos know I don't have any sort of donation supplement in my content. I do what I do for fun and for the entertainment of others. Surprisingly, I have something of a following on my streams and videos of my perspective as I fly CAS on operations. I will be leveraging every social media platform at my disposal and will be inviting everyone to join me on a special sortie: #CASforPR. This Sunday I will be streaming through Twitch, YouTube, and (if I can figure it out) Facebook Live too. Unlike my previous streams, I will have a webcam up and I will most definitely be chatting with my viewers. I will also have a link open for donations to contribute to this charity. This will be the only time I have ever asked or will ever ask my audience for anything other than to enjoy the show. I'm not expecting much but every dollar helps and will go straight to a cause without being caught up in a million miles of red tape. I love what I do here. I enjoy it so very much. If my time in this community can benefit even one person on Puerto Rico, then I will one day be able to look back on my time in the 506th and know it was all worth it.
I need folks to spread the word.
I need your help.

Let me know where to send some $$$, Soto, I'll send it over
-
Capt Soto provides a link to a specific charity above (Centro de Bendicion).
Another good place to donate in the wake of a natural disaster or man-made tragedy is always the Red Cross. I've seen these peeps in action and they're all highly dedicated professionals. Plus it's easy to see what they're doing with the money through the tallies on their website.
e.g.
-Along with our partners, the Red Cross has served more than a half million (587,000) meals and snacks across Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
-We’ve distributed more than 370,000 relief items across Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
-Red Cross volunteers have provided more than 8,300 mental health and health services to support and care for those affected.
-After Irma and Maria struck Puerto Rico, the Red Cross has served nearly 528,000 meals and snacks, distributed more than 252,000 relief supplies, and provided more than 5,200 mental health and health services to people in need. Right now, 450 trained Red Cross disaster workers are helping.

How to Help
The need for blood is constant. The Red Cross depends on generous volunteer blood donors to provide lifesaving blood for those in need – each and every day – not only during times of disaster. We are grateful to our dedicated donors who roll up a sleeve to help their fellow American citizen.
Help people affected by Hurricane Irma by visiting redcross.org, calling 1-800-RED CROSS or texting the word IRMA to 90999 to make a $10 donation.

No doubt on the blood donations. ARC has me on speed dial every 8 weeks on the dot. It so happened my 8 weeks was up this time right after PR got smashed. They really REALLY like my O+ even with the near toxic amounts of caffeine and alcohol I consume. I know not all of us are in a position to help out monetarily. Donating blood costs nothing but a slight pinch and about 10 minutes of goofing off on your phone whilst enjoying the Reddit front page.
That being said, I've had an awesome response thus far from a ton on people via PM, email, Facebook, etc. The #CASforPR sortie is looking good so far. I hadn't considered that so many of my facebook friends want to see me be a dork with all of you guys on a Sunday night.
My dad is heading back to Puerto Rico on Tuesday to keep up the work. I'm planning my time down there in November. Our connections in the automotive world mean we can get a van for a LOT cheaper than they'll be able to find at a lot. Considering so many vehicles down there were damaged in the storm, we'll likely be sending them a van straight from the mainland for a lot less than they can get in PR.
I never would have thought putting my faith in the generosity of the human spirit would generate such positive feedback. I'm looking forward to Sunday more than any other CAS mission I've flown.

DAFUQ?!? All I get is cookies, juice, and a feeling of superiority. They've collected damn near 10 gallons of my blood!! Who do I write to get some Braves tickets? Best I've managed is a coupon to Cheeseburger Bobby's (which was excellent I might add).
-
All I get is chips and cookies, I want some baseball tickets too haha. I donated 3 weeks ago so I can't go again for awhile.
I'll send some money to the charity. Are you keeping track of the total raised?
-
Every penny will be accounted for. 1SG Brewer has helped me get my OBS and all the apps and plugins up and running so anyone can see exactly where we are. My hope is I can cover the shipping costs of a van to the island. As it turns out, they're REALLY heavy. You don't exactly print a shipping label with UPS/FEDEX/USPS and send it on its way :D . We've worked out the logistics though as we're no strangers to sending cars to PR. If you guys haven't added me yet on Facebook please find me . I've got a post up that you can share to help me out that little bit extra in getting the word out:

It's no secret that I'm a but chatty. It takes a lot to render me speechless. The responses I've received thus far have been beyond my wildest imagination. The constraints of language fail me as I'm without an adequate way to express my gratitude...and I haven't even flown yet.
Edit: Yes. I will be dressing for the occasion.
