Title: I need practice using TFAR
Post by: SFC (Ret) Lyon on April 29, 2015, 04:06:12 PM
I'm trying to figure out the best way to get more comfortable with TFAR as I've never used it before, and really struggled with it in my OSUT class II.  Putting myself on a map and pretending to communicate is not going to get me far, I need to dive in and start using it in "real world" situations so it becomes second nature.

Any suggestions?

It comes with experience. Don't sweat it. It takes time to get used too. Once you get going in your fireteam later on, you'll start to feel a lot more comfortable. OSUT instructors may get on your ass about it, but it's really not a huge deal. They're just trying to help out.

Best way is to ask the instructors, let them go over it a few times so that you understand. They're there to teach, so ask questions if you are unsure. Using radios will be quite vital in this unit.

Or if you're free, just drop down to any channel and ask someone to teach you. Or one of the fun missions that happens everyday (either on forum or TS). Some of us are more than willing to give you a hand

Yah I did some homework on my own so at least I'm now familiar with how it operates - struggles during training were mostly about not having my key binds set up for easy/frequent use.  I just need to practice practice practice so I don't have to think it through every time before using it.  I'll check in on TS next time I'm looking to play, see if I can get invited to something.   Thanks for the input guys.
