will the new marksmen update affect the mods that are required to be part of this group? if so, how do i correct?

It is very possible the update will break things. If it does we will most like use a legacy version of ARMA 3 until mods become updated. I can't speak for sure on that, but if I was a gambling man, that's where I would put my money.

so just to confirm, as of right now is the unit engaging the legacy code provided by the developers to allow users to continue usage of 1.40?

There has been no official word as to whether the update broke anything. Small scale tests have not shown any reason to use a legacy version of the game, because everything seems to be running fine. I was speaking only to whether there were big game breaking issues with mods. Maybe a larger scale test will reveal something, but it doesn't look like that will be the case.
Right now, no - the unit is not using a legacy version of the game.

i have completed the downloads of the equipment, and so far the only problem i am seeing is that the m4/m16 variants cannot accept any sigh attachments, and it worked before i re-updated to the new build. i would assume it has something to do with the new bipods or something. someone else want to confirm or disprove this?
