Hello 506th,
I was watching one of the videos posted by Cpt. Drumheller and I came up with an idea for a small tweek to the mods used for the armor plates and back packs. Its purely a cosmetic sugeestion, but one I think would add to the sense of realism.
I've been recently trying to dip my toes back into Arma 3 and noticed while playing the main campaign, that the main character (Kerry) has his name tag stitched onto his vest and his back pack. I was wondering if it would be possible for this minor adjustment to be made to the vests and back packs used by the 506? Like I said, its purely cosmetic and maybe not worth the effort, but I think it would be a nice addition to the visuals of the uniform. I'll try to include a couple of example photos of what I'm talking about so you can see what it would look like with a profile name on it. (Hope this works on my phone)

I think this would look better than floating names above characters heads.

While it would be neat to have everyone's names stitched into their kit, this would take enormous amounts of time for our mod team to keep updated with the amount of people coming and going from the unit. It would also be extremely difficult to tell who certain people are on the battlefield. Yes the floating names aren't the greatest, but it allows us to quickly identify people near us without having to stare at their chest or backpack.

Getting ranks on our uniforms took long enough for poor 1st Lt Barba...

I understand, its a shame I dont know how to mod, otherwise I'd do it myself. :-\

This only could work if you find a capable system or whatsoever that can auto create nametags on backpacks or on the uniform that is similar to the system for the XML links.
-
as someone who have played with nametags on uniforms, it looks neat, but there is a lot of work and it cant be used for ID'ing ingame.

As others have pointed out: you'd either need some system that automatically added a tag when the uniform/best was put on in-server or you would need to make a unique version of every vest and pack for every member of the unit. Turning the mod-pack stupid huge.
I'm just happy to have my corporal's stripes on my uniform.

Not only it would be stupid huge, but can you imagine the amount of modpack 'updates' only for the names for when we get some new people in.. So yeah not worth it.

Yes......adding unique versions would be a S-4 nightmare.....and would require me to quit my IRL job to just maintain.
