1/2 inch gun makes mighty bad sniper eye with bad relief! Truth is there are better calibres for the job that weigh far less and shoot quite well at range. The 1/2" handgun is worthless as a sidearm and has no business in a gunfight. Fun to shoot? Maybe once but it wouldnt be my service weapon of choice. I do wince when I see the silly and dangerous antics on Youtube though...
By the way, many hunting rifles now are quite suitable for sniping and dont require a vehicle to move around. A tikka T3 in 7mm with a suitable scope will reach out to 900 meters and still rip an arm off, maybe not the same range as a 50 but really, how often do you engage a target beyond unaided visual range? Mostly never. You gotta see em to kill em.
