The Second Battle of Berezhino
Dateline – 11 January, 2016
On Monday night, the city of Berezhino located in Northeastern Chernarus came under heavy fire. While the conflict is still underway, it is believed that the aggressors are the remnants of the Russian Peoples Liberation Army (RPLA). While Chernarussian government officials refused to give specifics, they have confirmed that the city is under siege. Updates will be released as the situation progresses.

The city of Berezhino burns as heavy combat takes place
Last summer, the small country of Chernarus, off the Black Sea boarding Russia to the North and West, became an international hotspot. The small country, which has long struggled for a more Westernized style government came under heavy attack from a Russian militant group known as the Russian Peoples Liberation Army. Chernarus, and it’s now newly annexed neighbor Podagorsk immediately sought help from the international community. While the United Nations became paralyzed due to Russian and Chinese vetos, NATO responded to the small country primarily with military support from the United States, Poland, The United Kingdom and the Netherlands.
The situation in the two countries worsened as the RPLA’s paramilitary force, The Red Guard began an ethnic slaughter of the Pogar people. The Red Guard continued to carryout ethnic cleansing missions and political assassinations until international forces arrive. NATO forces quickly pushed RPLA forces out of Podagorsk, and then rapidly decimated RPLA forces across Chernarus allowing the democratically elected Chernarus government to resume control. Following the end of major combat operations (primarily carried out by American forces) British, Polish and Dutch forces stayed in country for security. Last month, the last British troops have left the country, leaving the responsibility of security solely on the rebuilt Chernarus Defense Force. While the official size of the CDF is classified, it is believed to be around 3 Combat Brigades and 1 Support Brigade.
During major combat operations, all members of the RPLA high command were killed in action. Commanders of the Red Guard (which broke away from the RPLA around August) have also been killed, except for their leader Gleb Zakharovich who has not been heard of, or seen since the end of the campaign.
