your going to have to mess with your start up parameters. to optimize for your system, arma does a horrible job at this by itself. there are threads here and on arma to do this. just google arma3 start up parameters. secondly your settings in game. other than that, based on everyone elses experience. I would NOT be disappointed getting that many frames on the assault server with that many people. during ops most of us sit around 20-25 fps.
-
so how would i write this in with the mods?
-high -exthreads 7 -maxMem=<your RAM divided by 2> -cpuCount=<cpu cores>
also would i just put "4" for the ram or 4096 which is half my ram?
-
You would put those, yes, and 4096 is half of 8 gigs of ram :)

You're going to have a tough time getting great frames because of your AMD CPU. ARMA doesn't like AMDs that much.
Here's a good guide:

SGT is 100% correct. Amra is CPU intensive... I have an intell CPU but an old AMD GPU... and I get better performance than those with new intel GPU and AMD CPUs.... something to think about when it comes time to do upgrades. Ill be doing my GPU soon

will bohemia be updating optimization ?

We can only hope.

There's a very long line waiting for that prayer to be answered.

so this is what my parameters look like are they correct?
-mod=@506th;@ace;@allinarmaterrainpack;@CBA_A3;@RHSAFRF;@task_force_radio;@RHSUSAF;@NziwasogoV06 -noSplash -cpuCount=4 -maxVRAM=2000 -exThreads=7 -malloc=system -maxMem=4096 -high

The following is the link that helped me get the most FPS increase, from like 18 up to 30-40ish.

I've had to tinker with it a bit after those edits. I ended up not using the -malloc=system parameter as it seemed to make my game crash sometimes. I believe this is related to the fact I deleted the memory allocation DLLs from arma. It has the instructions on how to determine what to set your parameters to as well.

Here is the single best thing you can do to improve your Arma 3 experience.

Anything else will only produce marginal improvements .

DirectX 12 support is coming in the Tanoa expansion next year, so there's that.

GPU improvements have nothing to do with how Arma 3's game engine "processes" in game performance.
The game engine was designed to utilize cpu power rather than gpu power and efficiency. If Arma 3 took full advantage of muticores (which it does not) then sure, I'd be hopeful too, that DX12 would offer a marked improvement to our beloved game. Since Arma 3's game engine does NOT function that way, don't expect a huge improvement if your still running on an AMD processor after the launch of DX12.

What's realistic? I'd expect anywhere from Microsoft's claims of 50-percent improvement all the way to the what we're seeing here in Futuremark's test. Here's what to walk away with ----> This will depend very much on the kind of game and the coding behind it.
The reality is this test is a theoretical test, although one made with advice from Microsoft and the GPU vendors. This test reveals the potential, but translating that potential into an actual game isn't quite as easy.
Remember Arma 3 isn't coded in a fashion that will make huge gains from DX12.
What's this all mean?
If you want Arma 3 to run the best it can and you have spare cash.
Intel .

I've said as much in many other threads. However, DX12 does allow the GPU to talk to all CPU cores simultaneously (http://www.littletinyfrogs.com/article/460524/DirectX_11_vs_DirectX_12_oversimplified), so it does allow for a form of CPU multithreading. There should be some sort benefit, however limited, to implementing DX12. Given the amount of work involved in adding DX12 support, I don't believe Bohemia would bother if there wasn't some sort of benefit.
But DX12 isn't a magic potion, either, so even if it does yield benefits, we're still going to have performance issues.

Hey we can always hope for an optimized Arma 4 right ? ;)
