Title: Its been too long, and Computer building questions.
Post by: SPC Maines on July 12, 2019, 12:47:42 PM
506th,

After three years of no ARMA, I have finally returned. Much has changed, I have a house, a wife, TWO kids (one adopted), and now am going back to school for Information Systems at the University of Washington. (No Drumheller, I did not change my name to Washingtons, if you remember that reference). One thing I haven't done nearly as much of in that time is gaming in general, and much has changed in the technology by the looks of it. I currently am only running 1st Gen Ryzen (1700x) processor and an RX 580 GPU for ARMA, but my student grants/loans kick in next week and I gotta do an upgrade. For those more up to date on the newest technology, how would the game fare against this lineup?

Absolutely ditch the 5400rpm hard drive. If you feel you need the extra space to use a traditional HD then I can vouch for Barracudas,. Have them in 3 PCs and they are very good. Otherwise, if you can live with a tad less HD space then going for a second solid state is a good choice.

The hype on liquid coolers is unnecessary now days. The Hyper 212 is such an excellent option for the cost. Octua makes awesome air coolers too. The main difference is a liquid cooler has a life span of a couple of years usually(then you start to worry about leaks), whereas air never quits.
(I did go liquid on my last build, but since I don't OC I could easily have gone Air)

Peace of mind, 750w+ power.

Personally I would jump up to 32 gb, I did a new build back in December 18' and I upgraded this spring.
Also why not go i9 9900K?
What kind of monitor you run this on?
